Air Meets Flare

Nike and designer Tinker Hatfield unveiled the Air Max 1 in 1987, drawing inspiration from the famous Centre Pompidou museum. Hatfield's decision to showcase the tech inside of the shoe broke many current sneaker design rules and set the tone for sneaker design well into the future.

Never Give Up

During the late 80s, Nike expanded the line with the Air Walker Max and Air Max Light. These earlier models laid the groundwork for the bold lines and performance upgrades that defined the Air Max era.

Enter the Air Max 90
