April 10 (UPI) -- A woman jogging in Rybnik, Poland, contacted authorities when she spotted an agouti -- a Central American rodent resembling a large guinea pig.

Rybnik Forestry officials said the woman called authorities in late March to report spotting the agouti in a wooded area.

"I've heard all kinds of unusual reports from callers, but then she sent a photo," Rybnik Forestry spokesperson Kacper Paturej told Radio 90.

Paturej said initial capture efforts had to be called off when the cat-sized agouti became aggressive.

The animal was later wrangled by experts from a wildlife rehabilitation center. Paturej said the agouti is currently being cared for at the center.

The rodent is believed to have escaped from a local private enclosure.
