March 23 (UPI) -- Animal care personnel in California's Los Angeles County rescued three kittens found taking shelter in the engine compartment of a vehicle.
The County of Los Angeles Palmdale Animal Care Center said on social media that a local resident visited recently to report meowing coming from under the hood of their car.
An officer "was able to pull each kitten out of the engine completely unharmed (but a little dirty)," the post said.
The kittens have been placed in a foster home while they recover from their "bumpy ride."
The center pledged to provide updates on the kittens, and whether they will be available for adoption once they are older.
